Thank YOU + Happy Summer + Wishing YOU All the Best!

Dear Swim Families,

It has been my absolute pleasure to be TAISM's Aquatics Coordinator for the last four years. I LOVE coaching swimming, teaching HS Lifeguarding and Aquatics, supervising Learn to Swim and, most of all, I LOVE our AWESOME TAISM EAGLE SWIMMERS with all of my heart.

As you are probably are aware, next year I am shifting roles and will be heading back to the Elementary school (here at TAISM) where I will be teaching Art. I am currently working hard earning a second master's degree in Art Education and am looking forward to this new adventure as this has been a professional goal for me for a long time.

While I am very sad to leave the position of Aquatics Coordinator/Head Swim Coach, I am excited for my new role and the challenges it will bring. I look forward to working with many of our younger swimmers in this new capacity in the art room. Just as I was witness to their hard work and dedication in the pool, I look forward to seeing their creativity shine in the art room!

My time in this position has been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my 27 years in education. Thank you all for your support. I hope you will come visit me in the Art room next year!!!

Swim Hard. Dream BIG!

Sincerely,

Ms. Cori

Fitter and Faster Online Technique Courses!

Small Session Online
Stroke Technique Courses
Image
Fitter and Faster just announced a new program designed for swimmers to improve and learn while pools are closed. Introducing the Fitter and Faster Online Technique Courses!

Even though we can't swim right now, swimmers can and should still be working on technique! Studying technique and then practicing the movements in front of a mirror, along with visualization, can help swimmers remain connected with the sport and be better prepared when pools reopen.

This interactive and engaging program is designed to help swimmers develop an in-depth understanding of the movements and techniques required to swim efficiently and fast.

Each technique course includes:
  • 3 different age group levels
  • A maximum of 12 participants per class
  • 8 classes over 4 weeks
  • Elite Clinicians including Olympic gold medalists, World Champions, and American Record Holders who have a talent for teaching
  • Each class within each course focuses on a specific component of the stroke
  • Participants will utilize video, out of water exercises, and visualization
  • Each class is 30 to 40 minutes long
  • PRIVATE SESSIONS: Each participant will receive two private one-on-one sessions for 10 minutes each. The first session will be at the beginning of the course so that you and your instructor can get to know each other better. The second session will be towards the end of the course

Click the strokes and age groups below for more details
Forward this email to your membership as a recommendation for them to stay on top of their technique!

Dear Swim Families,

It has been a pleasure coaching our TAISM swimmers this year. Thank you for your ongoing support throughout. Remember during these uncertain days when we are at home more than usual, to take time out for some exercise.

I have posted below a few dry land workouts that swimmers could choose to do when they need a break in the day from their online studies and work at home.

Here is a chart with more ideas of dryland activities for swimmers to do at home.

Take care everyone. Be active. Stay safe.
Sending lots of virtual hugs.

12 and Under Swimmers---TAISM v ABA Dual Meet

Dear Swim Families,

Swimmers who are 12 years old and under
are invited to participate in a dual meet
TAISM vs. ABA.

On February 11, TAISM will host a dual meet vs. ABA for our swimmers who are 12 years old and under. If your child would like to participate in this competition, please sign up on the entry and permission form. Each swimmer should sign up for a minimum of 2 events and a maximum of 4 events. Events offered at this meet are listed in the form. We will have 3 age groups (in GIRLS & BOYS) for the our meet: GIRLS/BOYS 8 and Under, GIRLS/BOYS 9-10 year olds and GIRLS/BOYS 11-12 year olds. Swimmers will race with gender/age-group peers.

The meet will start time at 4:00 PM and will end around 5:30 PM. Students will be dismissed from school at 3:10 PM. so that we can have a few extra minutes to get changed and warmed up for the meet before 4:00 PM. After we know how many entries we have, we will have a better estimate of an end time for the meet. *Swimmers will need to plan for transportation home from the meet. If swimmers must ride the bus home, there is a 5:10 bus available. Please indicate that on the form below and also note that the later events may occur after the bus departure times so bus riders should select their events with this in mind.

Remember- TAISM swim caps are required for swimmers participating in competitions. Swim caps are available for purchase. You can pay the TAISM business office 4.400 OMR and bring your receipt to Ms. Grace in the pool office or Ms. Cori, and we will give you your cap.

HaPpY NeW yEaR SwiMmeRs!

Dear Swim Families,

We are back in the pool and our ES Swim Team and our MS/HS Swim Club are practicing hard. This week we continue to focus on developing stroke technique and building stamina and will also focus on learning to do (or improve) racing turns and starts off the blocks.

Behind the scenes, some of you may have noticed that we have updated both our Short Course and Long Course Records boards located in the hallway between the pool changing rooms. I am long overdue for creating the SAISA Swim photo board...It has been fun sorting through photos and reliving some exciting moments! If you have photos from the SAISA meet and are willing to share, send them my way...we had lots of parents at the meet and I am sure their are many gems in YOUR photos that would be great to highlight on the bulletin board----that is going up this week! I can't wait for you to see all the fun moments captured at the SAISA Swim Competition at Lincoln School in Nepal of our SAISA Swim Champions! I am also working on identifying new photos to replace the photo boards above. The photo boards we have now are GREAT and quite old so its time to do an update to reflect our current swimmers. :-) Just a few of the fun projects I am working on between practices, LTS and my HS teaching responsibilities.

Here are some other noteworthy things going on in the world of TAISM Aquatics:

Learn to Swim
Session 1 is wrapping up on February 1st and the Registration morning for Session 2 will be on February 15th. Our HS Instructors are doing an amazing job teaching our developing swimmers with enthusiasm and skill. We have a small group of MS swimmers who are volunteer instructors as well. I am very proud of TAISM's LTS Instructor's dedication, positive attitudes and care they provide as they connect with each of their students and strive to provide them with specific feedback to help them progress as swimmers. Our LTS Instructor's are improving their instructional capacity AND our swim students are growing in their swimming proficiency and they are all having fun in the process. Yay!

ES Swim TEAM SUIT Order
If you are interested in buying a team suit, please place your order by Thursday, January 23rd at 6:00 PM. We have a quick turn-around time on the order so that we can get the suits from the U.S. to Oman. Please note-purchasing a team suit is optional. TAISM Swim caps are REQUIRED for competitions (4.400 OMR). GIRLS SUITS COST 29 OMR and BOYS SUITS COST 22 OMR.
For more information, please see the ES Team Suit Order Form.

Upcoming Events
We have 11 swimmers who have qualified and signed up to swim at the upcoming BSM Open Swim Meet on January 24th. It will be a fun day for these swimmers to set personal goals in swimming and challenge themselves.

ES Swim Team families and MS Swim Club swimmers who are 12 and under, mark your calendars, we have a dual meet with ABA coming up that we will be hosting here at TAISM on February 11th.

We have our annual TAISM Relays Meet (for ES/MS/HS swimmers) coming up on March 3 at TAISM. There are several local teams invited to the TAISM Relays and we often hear that for many, it is the event they look forward to most in the Swim event line up for the year.

Finally, there is another long course competition hosted by Nautilus coming up on March 13-14 at the Sultan Qaboos Stadium which should prove to be excellent competition and lots of fun!

Thank you for your continued support of the Aquatics program at TAISM.
Question? Please ask. Send me an email (leec@taism.com) or stop by the pool or my office.

Swim Hard. Dream BIG!

xx Ms. Cori
